General Information about Carbondale Attendance Center
The oldest part of the building was constructed in 1958, but two different fires and subsequent reconstruction have led to a modern 80,000 square foot building completed in 1994. The building includes 26 regular classrooms, a library media center, two computer labs, four small special education rooms, a full-size gymnasium, a health office, a conference room, a kitchen, a cafeteria, two music rooms, a detached pre-school classroom, and the office area. It is completely air-conditioned, is wired for internet access in all the classrooms, and has a telephone in each classroom.
The building is totally handicapped-accessible with two elevators, and includes over 7 acres of playground, including two hard surface areas. Teacher work stations and student computers are found in each classroom, and all classes are scheduled into the computer labs for technology instruction.
