FRESHMEN ROTATION CLASSES
All freshmen will take a nine weeks of study and research, oral communication, health, social and character education.


STUDY AND RESEARCH

Prerequisites: None

Supplies: Pencil or pen

Students will review all elements of research: library use, locating credible sources, taking notes, organizing information, and writing a research paper complete with MLA documentation and works cited page. Students will also create an online portfolio, do career exploration and learn course vocabulary.


ORAL COMMUNICATION

Prerequisites: None

Supplies: None

Students will develop oral communication skills. Some interpersonal speech will be introduced. Speech delivery, evaluation, and listening skills will all be addressed. The techniques of effective speaking and types of speeches will also be introduced.


HEALTH

Prerequisites: None

Supplies: None

Students will develop an understanding for total health. This course will introduce students to the decision-making process involved in becoming totally healthy, as well as introductions to infections, chronic diseases, and human reproduction.


SOCIAL AND CHARACTER EDUCATION

Prerequisites: None

Supplies: Pencil or pen

The character education rotation class will explore the 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens described by Sean Covey. The course will emphasize characteristics that one considers desirable in employent, social, and academic spheres of life. This class will be conducted in a 3 part production involving personal education, habits and principles, and relationships.
