KSHSAA Concussion Video Requirement
In January 2015 the KSHSAA Executive Board adopted the following student safety requirements for ALL coaches, student participants and school administrators responsible for event coverage:
Concussion and Head Injury Education
On an annual basis and PRIOR to the first practice of the season, ALL coaches, student participants and school administrators responsible for event coverage are required to complete a concussion education program. This requirement includes cheer and dance sponsors and participating students. Any of the following online courses are recommended by the KSHSAA and the KSHSAA Sports Medicine Advisory Committee for coaches, student-athletes and school administrators to meet the concussion and head injury education requirement:
Concussion in Sports () approximately 45 minutes
*Concussion for Students () approximately 30 minutes

*Course content designed for student-athletes.
Santa Fe Trail Junior High and Senior High School students who are planning to participate in sports/cheer/dance anytime during the 2018-2019 school year are invited to attend one of these free Concussion Education on-line courses at the high school on Friday, August 3rd at 8:45 am. We will show the video in the Auditorium. Those students who are participating in fall sports will be required to have this process completed by their first day of practice, which is Monday, August 13th. Those that have not completed this requirement by that time, will not be allowed to practice until they have it completed. This is a requirement by the Kansas State High School Activities Association Executive Board. Anyone can participate in this course and many others offered by NFHS by going to . Again, this is a requirement for any student who plans to participate in sports/cheer/dance during the 2018-2019 school year. This is a great opportunity to get this completed!!
If you are not able to attend on this date, you can complete the requirements on your own. Once completed you can either print off the certificate or take a picture of the certificate for proof of completion. If it is printed off, the certificate can be turned into the respective school office, SFTJH or SFTHS. If you are unable to print it, you can take a picture of the certificate on the computer screen and e-mail it to Keith Johnson at for high school students or T J Meyer at for junior high students.
