Superintendent Newsletter January 21, 2022
Dear Parents, Patrons and Staff;
No School Monday January 24th for students Pre-K through 12. This is a Professional Development Day for Certified Staff.
We have a huge need for Substitute Teachers in our district. The State Department of Education has recently created an emergency substitute license that requires only that a person be 18 years of age, a high school graduate and be able to pass a background check. If you are interested in substituting we need your help. Please Contact Amy Hill at the district office 1-800-836-9525 for an application. The district will pay the application fee for qualified candidates.
Power and Phone outage
If you tried to call any of the district buildings on Wednesday afternoon, you were probably frustrated by no answer. Just before noon, a traffic accident took out a power pole that supplies power to CAC and SAC. That resulted in a power surge which took out a core router that belongs to our internet and phone provider. Since all of our phone service is routed out of CAC, all phones were affected across the district. We apologize for any inconvenience but it was completely out of our control.

Shout Outs
Ms. Crumpton has started small group math intervention at OAC. A lot of planning, data analysis, and material preparation went into beginning these groups. Thank you for your hard work.
Thank you ALL OAC staff as we have demonstrated incredible flexibility and teamwork this week! We appreciate you more than words can express!
~Lorle Bolt
I would especially like to recognize our WIN team tutors for their work. The team is "there" for every child, and take care of most any need we have. Their tutoring groups are rearranged every 3 weeks, and now they are seeing every student through our specials rotation. They have become data, planning, and skill experts through the at-risk coordinator, Lorle Bolt. They have taken on the building's social arrangements, and have hosted some creative lunch events as well as other recognitions. Jeree Burnett, Ann Fawl, Betsy Kraus, Trent May, and Emily Morris (first semester) are at morning gym, breakfast, lunch, crossing duties, helping with bus transfers, classroom subbing, helping in the office and more. Their work ethic is tremendous, and while we appreciate them every day, the last couple of weeks they have truly been our Hero Helpers!

The senior banners in the high school gym look awesome! I want to give a shout out to Rory for engineering a system that works and looks great!

Thank you to the entire HS English department. We've been short subs this week and their creativeness has made it work for our students.
~Patrick Graham
A giant thank you to Theresa Courtwright for managing the subbing frenzy the past few weeks. She has done a fantastic job keeping our district staffed the best we can. Thanks to everyone in the district that helps sub, covers classes, lends a hand, and is a team player during our staffing issues. Teachers, Counselors, paras, support staff, administrators, and more have stepped up to the plate in order to keep this school open and running as normal. Thanks for all you do for SFT!

COVID
Thank you to all of our students, staff, parents and visitors to our buildings for doing all you can to help keep our schools open. No one enjoys wearing a face mask but hopefully this initiative, along with test to stay, social distancing, and good hand hygiene will help reduce the spread of illness and keep school open. Our numbers of Absence remain high but by working together we can bring those down.
