I received my teaching degree as a non-traditional student at Washburn University in 2001. I attended Washburn out of high school and played basketball there from 1987-1990, but did not know yet that I wanted to become a teacher. I married and had three children that I stayed home to raise. As they started school I began subbing in this district and it didn’t take long for me to decide to go back to school and get a teaching degree. This is my 7th year teaching 5th grade. My first 6 years were spent at Overbrook.
I am a junior high basketball coach, and an FCA (Fellowship of Christian Athletes) sponsor at the junior high as well. My husband and I also help out with the youth group at Overbrook United Methodist Church.
In my free time I love to spend time with my family, which usually involves some type of sports. Whether it is playing golf, going to watch our kids’ sporting events, or watching K-State games, we enjoy every minute.
