Welcome to the Overbrook Attendance Center website. We hope that the information, links, and email addresses located here are helpful to our school community.
Overbrook Attendance Center (OAC) is a public school located in Overbrook, Kansas, with an enrollment of 276 students in grades PK-2 from the towns of Carbondale, Scranton, and Overbrook. We have four classes per grade level in kindergarten, 1st grade, and 2nd grade. We also have two classrooms of special education preschool and a 4 year-old program, which gives us a total of 3 morning and 3 afternoon sessions of preschool. OAC is part of the Santa Fe Trail USD #434 school district. All three schools feed into Santa Fe Trail High School, which is a 4A high school. Our district is part of the 3 Lakes Special Education Cooperative.
This is a special year for our school, as this is the first year of reconfiguration for our school district. We are enjoying getting to know all of the students, families, and staff members from all three communities.
We adopted a new math curriculum for this year, Everyday Math. We will be having a couple of parents nights this year to help familiarize parents with the activities and math games that are used with the series.
Our formal academic assessment is the Measures of Academic Progress (MAP). Students in grade 2 take the MAP assessments in the fall of each year in the areas of Reading, Mathematics, and Language Usage. State assessments are taken by students starting in grade 3.
Overbrook is represented by the Santa Fe Trail Attendance Centers Parent-Teacher Organization (SFTAC-PTO). The vice-president representing OAC this year is Angela Rhodes. Our PTO carries out many special events throughout the school year. Our PTO also provides support for special projects for our school. PTO meetings are held each month in the SFTHS library and they always need additional help with projects to support the school.
Thanks for stopping by the website. Your comments and questions are always welcome.
