Architectural Overview & Design Pattern

The EIS Platform is built as a zero-dependency, serverless Single Page Application (SPA). All user interface state, modal dialogs, and rendering logic reside inside a single index.html file. Data persistence follows a dual-tier architecture:

Tier 1: Client-Side LocalStorage

Instant offline read/write access. All edits, ticket updates, capital outlay proposals, dynamic campus definitions, and staff roster updates are cached immediately in the user's browser local storage (eis_platform_backup_v2).

Tier 2: Google Workspace Cloud Sync

Bidirectional background synchronization with district Google Sheets via Google Apps Script Web App endpoints, plus Google Drive attachments and Google Workspace Single Sign-On (GIS).

1 Web Hosting & Static Server Deployment Options

Because the application compiles to a single HTML file, you can deploy it to any static web hosting provider or internal school server. SSL/HTTPS is strictly required for Google Workspace OAuth 2.0 and GIS SSO functionality.

Option A: GitHub Pages / Cloudflare Pages

Push index.html to a repository branch and enable Pages. Automated HTTPS and edge deployment provided automatically.

Option B: AWS S3 + CloudFront / Netlify

Upload index.html into an S3 bucket or Netlify site. Configure CloudFront distribution with a custom domain SSL certificate.

Option C: Internal IIS / Apache / Nginx

Copy index.html into the web root directory (e.g. C:\inetpub\wwwroot\eis\) and bind an internal district SSL cert.

Exact Locations for Setting Web App URL & Google Drive Folder ID

You can configure the Google Apps Script Web App URL and Google Drive Storage Folder ID in two exact locations:

Location 1: Application Settings UI (Zero-Code)

Web App URL: Navigate to Settings Tab > Administrative System Controls & Maintenance (Row 4 input box: #settingsGoogleAppsScriptUrl).
Drive Folder ID: Navigate to Settings Tab > Google Drive Storage Folder ID Configuration at bottom of page (Input field: #settingsGoogleDriveFolderId).

Location 2: HTML Source Code Defaults (`DEFAULT_CONFIG`)

Open index.html in a text editor and update lines 1051-1054 inside the JavaScript DEFAULT_CONFIG block:

Strict Dual-Gate SSO Security Architecture

To ensure that only authorized district staff members can log in, the EIS Platform enforces a strict two-stage authentication check during every Google Workspace sign-in attempt:

Gate 1: Hosted Domain Lock

OAuth consent rejects authorization attempts for any email outside the specified domain (@usd434.us).

Gate 2: Employee Roster Whitelist

The authenticated Google email address must match an active record in the Employee Roster. If unlisted, access is DENIED.
